After The Success Of Disneys 'Frozen' The Name "Olaf" Has Tripled In Popularity.



The names of characters from Disneys "Frozen" have leapt in popularity following the films success. Only "Anna" is unaffected.

In the United States figures for 2014 show

  • "Olaf" was given to 22 children, an increase of 14
  • "Elsa" was given 1,131 girls, up from 528 in 2013. It is now the 285th most popular nam its highest position since 1917
  • "Kristoff" rose from 7 instances to 32
  • "Sven" (the reindeer) was given to 55 boys, up from 33
  • "Hans" was the most popular male name from the movie as it was given to 132 boys. This was an increase of 34.

Only "Anna" was unaffected but seeing as how it was already the 34th most popular girls name in the country this is perhaps no surprise.
